Regular Season Round 22: Toyota A. - Chanson V-M 79-87 OT

Much higher ranked Toyota A. (17-5) fell to fourth ranked Chanson V-M (17-5) in overtime by eight points 79-87 on Saturday night. The game took place in Nagoya. But the guests from Shizuoka were better at the end. It ended at the same time the eight-game winning streak of Toyota A.. The guests took control from the first minutes by winning first half. But Toyota A. won third quarter 23-15. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening, at least not yet. The game turned upside-down in the last quarter, where Toyota A. used huge pressure winning it 23-18 getting a tie at the end of regular time. They lost eventually overtime period 7-15. Worth to mention a great performance of forward Sanae Motokawa (175-92) who helped to win the game recording 14 points, 5 rebounds and 9 assists. The former international swingman Saori Fujiyoshi (178-87) contributed with 16 points and 8 rebounds for the winners. International guard Emi Kudeken (165-84) replied with 17 points, 6 rebounds and 6 assists and power forward Mami Ikeda (178-81) added 15 points, 10 rebounds and 4 assists in the effort for Toyota A.Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Toyota A.'s coach Toshihiro Goto rotated eleven players in this game, but that didn't help. Chanson V-M moved-up to third place, which they share with defeated Toyota A. Chanson V-M will face Toyota B SR (#7) in Aichi in the next round. Toyota A. will play on the road against Hitachi Cougars (#10) in Hitachinaka and hope to win that game.
