Regular Season Round 22: Denso Iris - Niigata 63-36

Very predictable result when third ranked Denso Iris (18-4) rolled over 8th ranked Niigata (8-14) in Kariya 63-36 on Saturday. Denso Iris held Niigata to an opponent 24.5 percent shooting from the field compared to 41.9 percent accuracy of the winners. They outrebounded Niigata 49-24 including a 35-20 advantage in defensive rebounds. It was a very good performance for the former international power forward Maki Takada (183-89) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 15 points and 19 rebounds. Guard Minami Iju (168-90) contributed with 11 points and 5 rebounds for the winners. Denso Iris' coach Hiroshi Kojima felt very confident using entire bench which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Swingman Sangi Kanade (169-86) replied with 11 points and forward Nana Kondo (177-88) added 5 points in the effort for Niigata. Denso Iris have a solid four-game winning streak. They moved-up to second place. Niigata at the other side keeps the eighth position with 14 games lost. Denso Iris will face Aishin Wings (#9) in Anjo in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Niigata will play at home against Mitsubishi K. and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
