The game between Top Four teams took place in Melbourne. One of their biggest challengers host Melbourne Tigers (12-10) lost to second ranked Adelaide 36ers (14-8) 99-82The game was mostly controlled by Adelaide 36ers. Melbourne Tigers managed to win third quarter 25-20. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Adelaide 36ers dominated down low during the game scoring 52 of its points in the paint compared to Melbourne Tigers' 30. They outrebounded Melbourne Tigers 43-30 including 33 on the defensive glass. International power forward Daniel Johnson (212-88, college: Pepperdine) had a double-double by scoring 24 points, 11 rebounds and 4 blocks to lead the charge for the winners and American point guard Gary Ervin (183-83, college: Arkansas) chipped in 25 points and 8 assists during the contest. The best for the losing side was Canadian center Scott Morrison (213-86, college: Portland St.) with 15 points and 8 rebounds and American guard Mustapha Farrakhan (193-88, college: Virginia) scored 19 points. Five Adelaide 36ers and four Melbourne Tigers players scored in double figures. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Adelaide 36ers maintains second position with 14-8 record having four points less than leader Wildcats. Melbourne Tigers at the other side keep the third place with ten games lost. Adelaide 36ers are looking forward to face New Zealand Breakers (#5) in Auckland in the next round. Melbourne Tigers will play on the road against the league's leader Perth Wildcats and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
