Second Stage Round 20: Penarol - Lanus 93-88

LigaA top team - Penarol (18-2) added another victory to their record. This time they beat fifteenth ranked Lanus (5-12) in Mar del Plata 93-88. The hosts started the game with a very strong first quarter 37-26. But Lanus won second period 25-19. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Lanus was plagued by 29 personal fouls down the stretch. Worth to mention a quality performance of the former international forward Leonardo Gutierrez (200-78) who helped to win the game recording 25 points and international point guard Facundo Campazzo (179-91) who added 15 points and 8 assists during the contest. American forward Lorrenzo Wade (198-85, college: San Diego St.) responded with a double-double by scoring 21 points and 13 rebounds (was perfect 11-for-11 from the free throw line !!!) and point guard Hernando Salles (183-79) scored 22 points and 6 assists. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Penarol have an impressive five-game winning streak. Defending champion maintains first position with 18-2 record. Lanus at the other side keeps the fifteenth place with 12 games lost. Penarol will play against league's second-placed Regatas Corrientes on the road in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Lanus will play against Libertad Sunchales (#6) and hopes to get back on the winning track.
