Regular Season Round 19: Unicaja - Sevilla 89-76

There was no surprise when 7th ranked Cajasol (9-10) was defeated on the road by fifth ranked Unicaja Malaga (13-6) 89-76 on Sunday. The game without a history. Unicaja Malaga led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. They dominated down low during the game scoring 60 of its points in the paint compared to Cajasol's 32. Unicaja Malaga looked well-organized offensively handing out 24 assists. It was a great evening for the former international center Fran Vazquez (209-83) who led his team to a victory scoring 16 points and 9 rebounds. Uruguayan-Italian guard Jayson Granger (188-89) helped adding 11 points and 11 assists. Granger is a former Eurobasket Summer League player, which is considered top international summer league in the market. At the losing side American swingman Scott Bamforth (188-89, college: Weber St.) responded with 15 points and Czech point guard Tomas Satoransky (201-91) scored 14 points and 5 assists. Five Unicaja Malaga and four Cajasol players scored in double figures. Both coaches allowed to play bench players saving starting five for next games. Unicaja Malaga moved-up to third place, which they share with FCB Regal and G.Canaria 2014. Cajasol at the other side keeps the seventh position with ten games lost. They share it with FIATC Joventut and Laboral Kutxa. Unicaja Malaga will meet UCAM Murcia (#16) on the road in the next round which should be an easy win for them. Cajasol will play against Baloncesto Fuenlabrada (#14) in Madrid and hope to secure a win.
