Regular Season Round 31: Toshiba BT - Kumamoto V. 100-86

Very predictable result when first ranked Toshiba Thunders (29-5) won against 6th ranked Kumamoto V. (5-29) in Kanagawa 100-86 on Sunday. The game was mostly controlled by Toshiba Thunders. Kumamoto V. was better in second period 28-23. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Toshiba Thunders shot the lights out from three sinking 13 long-distance shots on high 54.2 percentage. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 22 assists. It was a very good performance for American forward Nick Fazekas (211-85, college: Nevada) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 38 points (!!!) and 18 rebounds. International swingman Naoto Tsuji (185-89) contributed with 18 points for the winners. American forward DeVaughn Washington (202-89, college: Ohio, agency: Pro Partner Sports Management) answered with a double-double by scoring 14 points, 18 rebounds and 5 assists and Yuji Kanbara added 27 points (perfect from the field making all ten shots !!!) in the effort for Kumamoto V.Four Kumamoto V. players scored in double figures. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Toshiba Thunders have a solid series of three victories in a row. They maintain first place with 29-5 record. Kumamoto V. lost eighth consecutive game. Newly promoted team keeps the sixth position with 29 games lost. Toshiba Thunders will face Mitsubishi Dolphins (#3) in Nagoya in the next round, which may be the game of the day. Kumamoto V. will play at home against Tochigi Brex and hope to win that game.
