No shocking result in a game when San Salvatore (3-0) beat at home Alghero (1-2) 63-46 on Sunday. The game was mostly controlled by San Salvatore. Alghero was better in third quarter 15-11. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. They dominated on the defensive end, holding Alghero to just 7 points in fourth quarter. San Salvatore forced 20 Alghero turnovers and outrebounded them 39-27 including a 31-16 advantage in defensive rebounds. It was a good game for swingman Alessandra Visconti (187-87) who led her team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 16 points, 12 rebounds, 4 assists and 9 steals. Bulgarian forward Roksana Yordanova (184-84) contributed with 8 points and 8 rebounds for the winners. Guard Marika Zanardi (175-81) answered with 18 points and 5 steals and center Costanza Giorgi (185-89) added 15 points and 5 rebounds in the effort for Alghero. San Salvatore will face Cagliari A. (#3) on the road in the next round, which may be the game of the day. Alghero will play against Biassono and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
