There was no surprise when 5th ranked Hitachi Sunrockers (10-25) lost to first ranked Aishin Sea Horses (31-4) in Tokyo 74-84 on Sunday. The game without a history. Aishin Sea Horses led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. They made 20-of-25 free shots (80.0 percent) during the game. It was a very good performance for the former international guard Makoto Hiejima (190-90) who helped to win the game recording 20 points (made all of his seven free throws). The former international center J.R. Sakuragi (206-76, college: UCLA) contributed with a double-double by scoring 10 points, 11 rebounds and 4 assists for the winners. Five Aishin Sea Horses players scored in double figures. American forward Darius Rice (208-82, college: Miami, FL) answered with a double-double by scoring 28 points and 10 rebounds and the former international power forward Joji Takeuchi (207-85, agency: N.E.T.) added 18 points, 11 rebounds and 4 assists in the effort for Hitachi Sunrockers. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Aishin Sea Horses maintains first place with 31-4 record. Loser Hitachi Sunrockers keep the fifth position with 25 games lost. Aishin Sea Horses will face league's second-placed Toyota Alvark in Tokyo in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Hitachi Sunrockers will play on the road against Hyogo S. and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
