Regular Season Round 19: Montepaschi - Vuelle Bsk PS 80-70

Date: February 16, 2014
No shocking result in a game when fourth ranked Montepaschi Siena (12-7) defeated at home bottom-ranked VL Pesaro (4-15) 80-70 on Sunday. The game was mostly controlled by Montepaschi Siena. VL Pesaro managed to win second period 16-14. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Montepaschi Siena made 17-of-20 free shots (85.0 percent) during the game. It was a great evening for American point guard Erick Green (190-91, college: Virginia Tech) who led his team to a victory scoring 34 points (!!!) (on 13-of-14 shooting from the field). Austrian power forward Benjamin Ortner (206-83, college: Metro St.) helped adding 8 points and 10 rebounds. At the losing side American guard Elston Turner (196-90, college: Texas A&M) responded with 26 points and the other American import power forward O.D. Anosike (203-91, college: Siena) produced a double-double by scoring 16 points and 10 rebounds. Defending champion maintains fourth place with 12-7 record. Loser VL Pesaro stay at the bottom position with 15 games lost. Montepaschi Siena will meet Umana Venezia (#10) on the road in the next round which should be theoretically an easy game. VL Pesaro will play against Sutor Montegranaro (#15) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
