Important game to mention about took place in Tenerife. Sixth ranked CAI Zaragoza (11-8) saved a 3-point victory on the road edging 10th ranked CB Canarias (8-10) 78-75 on Sunday evening. The guests were ahead by 1 point but lost the second period ending it with a 1-point deficit before their 29-25 run, which allowed them to win the game. CB Canarias was plagued by 24 personal fouls down the stretch. Worth to mention a great performance of Belgian point guard Jonathan Tabu (19-85) who helped to win the game recording 8 points and 9 assists. Guard Pedro Llompart (185-82) contributed with 16 points (made all of his eight free throws) for the winners. American forward Lucas Sikma (203-89, college: Portland) answered with 5 points and 14 rebounds and Russian-Greek center Lazaros Papadopoulos (210-80) added 15 points (on 6-of-7 shooting from the field) in the effort for CB Canarias. Both coaches tested many bench players in such tough game. The victory was the third consecutive win for CAI Zaragoza. They maintain sixth place with 11-8 record. CB Canarias lost their fifth game in a row. They keep the tenth position with ten games lost. CAI Zaragoza will play against league's second-placed Valencia Basket at home in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. CB Canarias will play against Regal FC Barcelona (#4) and hopes to get back on the winning track.
