Regular Season Round 22: Weert - Rotterdam 59-53

Date: February 18, 2014
Bottom-ranked Weert managed to get a second victory, breaking the four-game losing streak. This time they won against eighth-ranked Rotterdam 59-53. Rotterdam was tied at the half but could not keep up in last two quarters eventually losing the game. Weert forced 19 Rotterdam turnovers. Rotterdam was plagued by 25 personal fouls down the stretch. The former international center Kenneth van Kempen (207-87, college: Ohio, agency: Court Side) notched a double-double by scoring 11 points and 14 rebounds to lead the effort and naturalized Russian forward Roman Grigorev (200-90, agency: Court Side) supported him with 10 points and 9 rebounds. Four Weert players scored in double figures. Even 13 points and 7 rebounds by American guard La'Shard Anderson (185-89, college: Boise St.) did not help to save the game for Rotterdam. Center Bart Stolk (206-93) added 8 points and 7 rebounds for lost side. Rotterdam's coach Ferry Steenmetz rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Weert maintains tenth position with 2-23 record. Rotterdam lost tenth consecutive game. They keep the eighth place with 18 games lost. Weert will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Rotterdam will play on the road against Amsterdam (#9) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
