Regular Season Round 6: Sagesse - Bejjeh 83-64
Date: February 19, 2014
Bottom-ranked Bejjeh is still unable to win any game. But it was rather predictable considering how strong their opponent was. This time they lost on the road their sixth consecutive match to third ranked Sagesse (5-1) 83-64 on Wednesday evening. The game was mostly controlled by Sagesse. Bejjeh managed to win fourth quarter 18-15. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. They outrebounded Bejjeh 52-33 including a 21-9 advantage in offensive rebounds. The former international power forward Daniel Faris (206-87, college: N.Mexico) notched a double-double by scoring 18 points and 13 rebounds to lead the effort and international point guard Rodrigue Akl (187-88) supported him with 10 points, 5 rebounds and 7 assists. Four Sagesse players scored in double figures. Even 30 points and 7 rebounds by American forward Jonathon Avery (201-88, college: IUPUI, agency: Gamble Sports Management) did not help to save the game for Bejjeh. His fellow American import center Nakiea Miller (204-79, college: Iona) added 17 points, 9 rebounds and 4 blocks. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Sagesse keeps a position of league leader, which they share with Al Riyadi and Byblos. Loser Bejjeh still closes the standings with six games lost. Sagesse will meet league's second-placed Byblos on the road in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Bejjeh will play against Tadamon (#6) and hopes to get finally their first victory.
