Everything could happen in Gwynneville at the game between two tied teams. Both sixth ranked Wollongong Hawks and 6th ranked New Zealand Breakers had identical 9-13 record. This time Wollongong Hawks used a home court advantage and smashed the opponent from Auckland 88-68 on Friday night. The game without a history. Wollongong Hawks led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. They made 22-of-28 free shots (78.6 percent) during the game. It was a great evening for American guard Rotnei Clarke (183-89, college: Butler) who led his team to a victory scoring 28 points. Guard Rhys Martin (184-86, college: Nova SE) helped adding 7 points, 10 rebounds and 5 assists. Four Wollongong Hawks players scored in double figures. At the losing side Fijian-New Zealand forward Mika Vukona (198-82) responded with a double-double by scoring 13 points, 11 rebounds and 4 assists and American power forward Gary Wilkinson (204-82, college: Utah St.) scored 7 points and 10 rebounds. Both coaches used bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. Wollongong Hawks have a solid series of four victories in a row. They moved-up to fifth place. Defending champion New Zealand Breakers keep the sixth position with 14 games lost. Wollongong Hawks will meet at home league's second-placed Adelaide 36ers in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. New Zealand Breakers will play against Cairns Taipans (#7) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
