Regular Season Round 6: Gigantes - Toros 66-61

There was no surprise in Puerto Ordaz where 7th ranked Toros (4-4) were defeated by fourth ranked Gigantes (4-4) 66-61 on Friday. The hosts trailed by 10 points after three quarters before their 26-11 charge, which allowed them to win the game. Gigantes forced 20 Toros turnovers. The best player for the winners was international forward Axiers Sucre (199-78) who scored 16 points and 7 rebounds. American center Andrew Feeley (206-83, college: UMBC, agency: Promotex) chipped in 9 points and 9 rebounds. At the other side the best for losing team was Dominican guard Kelvin Pena (193-80, college: Southeastern CC) who recorded 19 points and 5 rebounds and American power forward Anthony Laveal Johnson (203-88, college: Fairfield) added 7 points and 16 rebounds respectively. Both coaches allowed to play bench players in such tough game. Gigantes have a solid three-game winning streak. They maintain fourth position with 4-4 record, which they share with Toros and Guaros. Gigantes will face Bucaneros (#9) in La Guaira in the next round where they are favorite. Toros will play at home against Guaiqueries (#7) and hope to win that game.
