Regular Season Round 19: KAOD - Ikaros 96-79

There was no surprise when 14th ranked Ikaros (5-14) lost to seventh ranked KAOD (9-10) in Dramas 79-96 on Saturday. The hosts trailed by 1 point at the halftime before their 58-40 charge in the second half, which allowed them to win the game. Ikaros was plagued by 28 personal fouls down the stretch. It was a very good performance for American point guard Lazeric Jones (182-90, college: UCLA) who helped to win the game recording 20 points. His fellow American import point guard J'Covan Brown (185-90, college: Texas) contributed with 17 points and 7 assists for the winners. KAOD's coach Nenad Markovic used an eleven-player rotation which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. U.S. Virgin Islands-Puerto Rican forward Ivan Aska (200-90, college: Murray St.) answered with 14 points and 9 rebounds and guard Yannis Gagaloudis (192-78) added 20 points in the effort for Ikaros. Four KAOD and five Ikaros players scored in double figures. KAOD moved-up to sixth place. Ikaros at the other side dropped to the thirteenth position with 14 games lost. KAOD will face Kolossos (#11) in Rodou in the next round which should be theoretically an easy game. Ikaros will play at home against Nea Kifisia and hope to win that game.
