Regular Season Round 6: Gigantes - Toros 82-83

Important game to mention about took place in Puerto Ordaz. Seventh ranked Toros (4-4) saved a 1-point victory on the road edging one of their biggest challengers Gigantes (4-4) 83-82 in the game for the fourth place. It ended at the same time the three-game winning streak of Gigantes. It looked good early as Gigantes took an 13-point lead at the end of first quarter. But then Toros took control and eventually winning the game that evening by 1 point. Toros had a 19-6 advantage in offensive rebounds. It was a good game for American power forward Anthony Laveal Johnson (203-88, college: Fairfield) who saved his team from a defeat with a double-double by scoring 17 points and 10 rebounds. International center Miguel Marriaga (205-84) contributed with a double-double by scoring 12 points and 13 rebounds for the winners. Five Toros players scored in double figures. American center Andrew Feeley (206-83, college: UMBC, agency: Promotex) replied with 17 points, 7 rebounds and 4 assists and international forward Axiers Sucre (199-78) added 20 points and 5 rebounds (on 7-of-9 shooting from the field) in the effort for Gigantes. Both coaches used bench players in such tough game. Toros moved-up to fourth place, which they share with Guaros and Gigantes. Toros will play against Guaiqueries (#7) in Porlamar in the next round. Gigantes will play on the road against Bucaneros in La Guaira and hope to get back on the winning track.
