Regular Season Round 10: Sao Jose - Ourinhos 65-58

There was no surprise when 5th ranked Ourinhos (5-8) was defeated on the road by third ranked Sao Jose (10-3) 65-58 on Saturday. Ourinhos trailed by 18 points at halftime and as many as 23 after three quarters before a 23-7 last quarter charge cut the deficit to 58-65 at the end of the game. Sao Jose forced 23 Ourinhos turnovers. Cuban power forward Yakelyn Plutin (187-79) fired 10 points for the winners. Forward Isabela Ramona (180-94) chipped in 10 points. Four Sao Jose players scored in double figures. International Patricia Ferreira (182-79) produced 13 points and 7 rebounds and international guard Taina Paixao (176-91) added 14 points and 4 assists respectively for lost side. Both coaches used bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. Sao Jose maintains third position with 10-3 record behind leader Recife. Ourinhos lost fourth consecutive game. They keep the fifth place with eight games lost. Sao Jose will face Maranhao (#4) in Maranho in the next round. Ourinhos will play at home against Rio Claro and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
