Regular Season Round 13: Olimpi - MIA Academy 59-81

The most exciting game was a derby match between two local teams from Tbilisi: MIA (#6) and Olimpi (#8). Olimpi was crushed at home by 22 points 59-81 and even the advantage of their own court did not help. The game without a history. MIA led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. They dominated down low during the game scoring 52 of its points in the paint compared to Olimpi's 26. MIA looked well-organized offensively handing out 21 assists. Worth to mention a great performance of center Ilia Londaridze (205-89) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 19 points and 13 rebounds. American guard Parrish Brown (185-84, college: Maryland) contributed with 20 points and 4 assists for the winners. International center Richard Matiashvili (207-89) answered with a double-double by scoring 15 points and 12 rebounds and guard Giorgi Gulisabedashvili (194-88, agency: Court Side) added 10 points and 7 rebounds in the effort for Olimpi. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Defending champion (6-5) moved-up to fourth place, which they share with Sokhumi. Olimpi at the other side keeps the eighth position with nine games lost. MIA is looking forward to face higher ranked Kutaisi (#3) on the road in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Olimpi's supporters also look forward to another derby game next round, where their team will travel locally in Tbilisi to the arena Armia.
