No shocking result in a game when sixth ranked Real Celta Vigo (8-7) beat at home 9th ranked Oviedo (6-9) 63-45 on Saturday. The game without a history. Real Celta Vigo led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. They dominated on the defensive end, holding Oviedo to just 7 points in second quarter. Real Celta Vigo made 16-of-19 free shots (84.2 percent) during the game. They also forced 21 Oviedo turnovers. It was a good game for swingman Marta Canella (178-95) who led her team to a victory with 16 points and 7 rebounds. Forward Maria Perez Araujo (184-97) contributed with 15 points and 6 rebounds for the winners. Real Celta Vigo's coach used a ten-player rotation which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Cameroonian forward Florence Avebe (185-88, college: Massachusetts) answered with a double-double by scoring 15 points and 11 rebounds and point guard Andrea Malanda (164-90) added 10 points in the effort for Oviedo. Real Celta Vigo moved-up to fifth place in Group A. Loser Oviedo dropped to the eighth position with nine games lost. Real Celta Vigo will face Cortegada (#6) in Vilagarcia Arousa in the next round. Oviedo will play at home against Aros Leon and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
