Second Stage Round 4: Biassono - Alghero 28-61

There was no surprise when bottom-ranked Biassono (0-4) was outleveled at home by fourth ranked Alghero (2-2) 61-28 on Sunday. The game without a history. Alghero led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. They dominated on the defensive end, holding Biassono to just 4 points in second quarter and to 9 points in first half. Alghero held Biassono to an opponent 15.2 percent shooting from the field compared to 41.8 percent accuracy of the winners. Alghero had a 45-26 advantage in offensive rebounds. Quite impressive performance for Israeli forward Delia Gagliano (180-97) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 17 points and 11 rebounds. Center Costanza Giorgi (185-89) contributed with a double-double by scoring 10 points and 12 rebounds for the winners. Forward Alessia Colombo (182-93) replied with 4 points and 16 rebounds and guard Federica Sallustio (171-95) added 5 points and 8 rebounds in the effort for Biassono. Biassono's coach Stefano Fassina gave up on the game allowing to play ten players seeing no chance for a win. Alghero moved-up to third place in Relegation Group A, which they share with Cagliari V. and Valmadrera. Loser Biassono still closes the standings with four games lost. Alghero will face Valmadrera (#3) at home in the next round, which may be the game of the day. Biassono will play against the league's second-placed San Salvatore and looks forward to get finally their first victory.
