Regular Season Round 33: Mitsubishi DD - Toshiba BT 73-87

An interesting game for Toshiba Thunders (31-5) which played road game in Nagoya against 3rd placed Mitsubishi Dolphins (19-18). First ranked Toshiba Thunders managed to get a 14-point victory 87-73. It looked good early as Mitsubishi Dolphins took an 2-point lead at the end of first quarter. But then Toshiba Thunders had a 20-17 second period charge getting the lead and Mitsubishi Dolphins were not able to take back game control losing it eventually 73-87. Toshiba Thunders players were unselfish on offense dishing 22 assists. American forward Nick Fazekas (211-85, college: Nevada) stepped up with a double-double by scoring 33 points (!!!), 11 rebounds and 7 assists (went 8 for 8 at the free throw line) for the winners and Senegalese swingman Mamadou Diouf (197-77, college: Delaware) chipped in 12 points and 6 rebounds (perfect from the field making all six shots). The best for the losing side was Bahamas power forward Magnum Rolle (211-86, college: Louisiana Tech) with a double-double by scoring 23 points and 12 rebounds and Senegalese-French forward Amath M'Baye (206-89, college: Oklahoma) scored 16 points and 6 rebounds. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. The victory was the fifth consecutive win for Toshiba Thunders. They maintain first place with 31-5 record. Mitsubishi Dolphins at the other side keep the third position with 18 games lost. Toshiba Thunders will play against Hyogo S. (#4) at home in the next round. Mitsubishi Dolphins will play against Tochigi Brex and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
