Not a big story in a game when bottom-ranked Meccanica NB (0-4) was outscored on the road by fourth ranked Catania (2-1) 96-53 on Sunday. The game without a history. Catania led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. They dominated down low during the game scoring 62 of its points in the paint compared to Meccanica NB's 36 and made 16-of-18 free shots (88.9 percent) during the game. Catania forced 23 Meccanica NB turnovers and outrebounded them 42-13 including a 13-2 advantage in offensive rebounds. Quite impressive performance for Czech center Renata Brezinova (190-90) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 20 points and 13 rebounds. Guard Maria Buzzanca (171-76) contributed with 22 points for the winners. Five Catania players scored in double figures. Catania's coach Enzo Porchi felt very confident using 10 players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Arianna Landi (179-96) replied with 18 points and point guard Elisabetta Tassinari (171-94) added 6 points in the effort for Meccanica NB. Newly promoted Catania maintains fourth position in Promotion Group B with 2-1 record. Loser Meccanica NB still closes the standings with four games lost. Catania will face Ancona (#7) on the road in the next round. Meccanica NB will play against the league's leader Irpino in Ariano Irpino and looks forward to get finally their first victory.
