There was no surprise when 16th ranked Bari (1-22) was crushed on the road by twelfth ranked Chieti (11-12) 122-38 on Sunday. The game without a history. Chieti led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. They dominated on the defensive end, holding Bari to just 4 points in third quarter and to 8 points in second half. Chieti well out of reach of Bari shooting 70.8 percent from the field. They also forced 20 Bari turnovers and outrebounded them 40-17 including a 32-12 advantage in defensive rebounds. Chieti shot the lights out from three sinking 13 long-distance shots on high 61.9 percentage. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 34 assists comparing to just 7 passes made by Bari's players. The best player for the winners was naturalized San Marino Andrea Raschi (198-79) who scored 24 points, 5 rebounds and 9 assists (perfect from the field making all ten shots !!!). Center Mattia Soloperto (208-80) chipped in 16 points and 9 rebounds. Five Chieti players scored in double figures. Forward Kevin Cusenza (197-93) produced 8 points and 5 rebounds and power forward Francesco Infante (200-92) added 10 points respectively for the guests. Chieti moved-up to eleventh place, which they share with Reggio Calabr. Bari lost their seventeenth game in a row. They stay dead last with 22 lost games. Chieti will face higher ranked Treviglio (#9) on the road in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Bari will play against the league's second-placed Omegna (#2) and will have a slim chance for a victory.
