Leader Fuenlabrada delivered the thirteenth victory on Sunday night. This time they crushed 13th ranked Askatuak (3-15) 79-53 in Madrid. The game without a history. Fuenlabrada led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. Fuenlabrada forced 19 Askatuak turnovers and had a 19-4 advantage in offensive rebounds. It was a great evening for center Jose Maria Gonzalez (206-91, agency: Duran International) who led his team to a victory scoring 15 points and 7 rebounds. Latvian power forward Rolands Smits (202-95) helped adding 9 points and 9 rebounds. Gonzalez is a former Eurobasket Summer League player, which is considered top international summer league in the market. Fuenlabrada's coach Armando Gomez felt very confident that he used 11 players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. At the losing side forward Aritz Martinez (201-82) responded with a double-double by scoring 10 points and 12 rebounds and Lithuanian point guard Robertas Bitinas (182-84) scored 15 points. Four Askatuak players scored in double figures. Newly promoted Fuenlabrada maintains first place with 13-5 record. Loser Askatuak stay at the bottom position with 15 games lost. Fuenlabrada will meet Cambados (#9) on the road in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Askatuak will play against Caceres Basket (#6) and hope to secure a win.
