Regular Season Round 40: Iwate Big Bulls - Aomori Watts 70-67

Sixth-ranked Aomori Watts (16-18) made lots of trouble for third ranked Iwate Big Bulls (25-9). Iwate Big Bulls managed to secure only three-point victory 70-67. However their fans expected easier game. Aomori Watts were ahead by 2 points after three quarters before a 17-12 charge of Iwate Big Bulls, which allowed them to win the game. Worth to mention a great performance of American-Panamanian forward Leonardo Pomare (203-86, college: San Diego) who helped to win the game recording 11 points and 8 rebounds. Guard Tsukino Masato (178-88) contributed with 8 points and 6 rebounds for the winners. Iwate Big Bulls' coach Dai Oketani allowed to play the deep bench players in such tough game. Swingman Makoto Sawaguchi (184-91) replied with 15 points, 6 rebounds and 5 assists and Guyanese-American forward Gordon Klaiber (206-83, college: Fair Dickinson) added 14 points and 6 rebounds in the effort for Aomori Watts. Iwate Big Bulls have a solid four-game winning streak. They maintain third position with 25-9 record having four points less than leader Akita NH. Aomori Watts at the other side keep the sixth place with 18 games lost. They share the position with Sendai 89ers and Yokohama BC. Iwate Big Bulls will play against Niigata Albirex (#5) on the road in the next round. Aomori Watts will play against the league's leader Akita Happinets and hope to get back on the winning track.
