Very expected game when Heffingen (2-18) was smashed on the road by Basket Esch (20-0) 90-69 on Sunday. The game without a history. Basket Esch led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. They dominated down low during the game scoring 66 of its points in the paint compared to Heffingen's 30. American guard Jibril Hodges (188-84, college: Long Beach St.) orchestrated the victory by scoring 25 points, 6 rebounds and 5 assists. The other American import forward Alex Okafor (202-87, college: Princeton) contributed with 17 points and 5 assists (on 8-of-10 shooting from the field) for the winners. Four Basket Esch players scored in double figures. American forward Dominique Morrison (198-89, college: ORU) replied with 12 points and 6 rebounds and Sudanese power forward Teeng Akol (211-88, college: W.Kentucky) added 9 points and 6 rebounds in the effort for Heffingen. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Basket Esch will face Grengewald (#4) in Niederanven in the next round. Heffingen will play at home against Soleuvre (#7) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
