Regular Season Round 23: Sigma BRC - Fileni BPA Jesi 76-70

Very expected game when 14th ranked Fileni BPA Jesi (8-15) lost on the road to fifth ranked Sigma Barcellona (14-9) 76-70 on Sunday. However just six-point win is not that big difference and the fans of host team counted on more convincing victory. The hosts started the game with a very strong first quarter 27-13. But Fileni BPA Jesi won second period 15-6. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. It was an exceptional evening for American swingman Alex Young (198-89, college: IUPUI) who led the winners with a double-double by scoring 30 points and 11 rebounds. American-Bulgarian point guard Andre Collins (183-82, college: Loyola, MD) accounted for 11 points and 9 assists for the winning side. The former international center Michele Maggioli (212-77) came up with 22 points and 7 rebounds and guard Marco Santiangeli (193-91) added 18 points and 5 rebounds respectively for Fileni BPA Jesi in the defeat. Fileni BPA Jesi's coach Piero Coen rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Sigma Barcellona have a solid series of three victories in a row. They moved-up to fourth place, which they share with Tezenis VE and Angelico BI. Fileni BPA Jesi lost third consecutive game. They keep the fourteenth position with 15 games lost. Sigma Barcellona will meet Angelico Biella (#5) on the road in the next round. Fileni BPA Jesi will play against the league's leader Trento (#1) and hope to secure a win.
