Very expected game when 15th ranked Firenze (8-15) was defeated on the road by ninth ranked Ravenna (12-11) 74-66 on Sunday. The hosts started the game with a very strong first quarter 27-7. But Firenze won second period 23-15. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Ravenna dominated on the defensive end, holding Firenze to just 7 points in first quarter. They made 19-of-22 free shots (86.4 percent) during the game. They outrebounded Firenze 41-22 including 26 on the defensive glass. The best player for the winners was American forward Michael Singletary (198-88, college: Texas Tech, agency: Three Eye Sports) who had a double-double by scoring 16 points, 12 rebounds and 4 assists. His fellow American import guard Adam Sollazzo (198-90, college: E.Tenn.St.) chipped in 13 points and 8 rebounds. Singletary is a former Eurobasket Summer League player, which is considered top international summer league in the market. Four Ravenna players scored in double figures. Croatian guard Damir Rancic (199-83) produced 20 points and forward Riccardo Castelli (200-88) added 13 points and 8 rebounds respectively for the guests. Ravenna moved-up to sixth place, which they share with 4 other teams. Firenze at the other side, also newcomer in the league, keeps the fifteenth position with 15 games lost. Ravenna will face higher ranked Naturhouse Ferrara (#4) on the road in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Firenze will play against the league's leader Agrigento (#1) and hope to win that game.
