Eighth-ranked Niigata (8-17) used its home court advantage to challenge sixth ranked Mitsubishi K. (17-8) in Tokyo on Sunday. The visitors from Nagoya managed to secure only two-point victory 53-51. However their fans expected easier game. The guests trailed by 1 point after first quarter, but they rallied back to get the 6-point lead at the halftime and eventually won the game 53-51. Worth to mention a great performance of swingman Aya Watanabe (170-92) who helped to win the game recording 12 points, 9 rebounds and 4 assists. Guard Yuki Ikeya (174-93) contributed with 16 points and 6 assists for the winners. Swingman Sangi Kanade (169-86) answered with 15 points and 4 steals and guard Seiko Kawakami (165-88) added 12 points and 5 rebounds in the effort for Niigata. Mitsubishi K. have an impressive series of five victories in a row. They maintain sixth place with 17-8 record. Niigata lost fifth consecutive game. They keep the eighth position with 17 games lost. Mitsubishi K. will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game.
