Regular Season Round 40: Toyama Grouses - Shinshu BW 68-69

The most exciting game of round 40 in the BJ League took place in Toyama. This derby game ended with only one-point home defeat of much higher ranked Toyama Grouses (26-10) to fourth ranked Shinshu BW (23-10) 69-68 on Sunday evening. It ended at the same time the four-game winning streak of Toyama Grouses. The guests trailed by 2 points after three quarters before their 13-10 charge, which allowed them to win the game. American power forward Xavier Gibson (210-88, college: Florida St.) fired a double-double by scoring 14 points and 11 rebounds for the winners. The other American import forward Jeffrey Parmer (203-85, college: Florida Atlantic) chipped in a double-double by scoring 12 points and 12 rebounds. Shinshu BW's coach Ryuji Kawai used a ten-player rotation in such tough game. American forward Ira Brown (193-82, college: Gonzaga, agency: Norton Sports Management) produced a double-double by scoring 15 points, 10 rebounds and 4 assists and Joho Masashi (183-82) added 15 points and 6 assists respectively for lost side. Four Shinshu BW and five Toyama Grouses players scored in double figures. Shinshu BW maintains fourth position with 23-10 record. Toyama Grouses at the other side keep the second place with ten games lost. Shinshu BW are looking forward to face Yokohama BC (#8) at home in the next round. Toyama Grouses will play against Saitama Broncos (#11) and are hoping to win this game.
