Regular Season Round 7: Al Riyadi - Hoops 74-37

The game had a very big importance for second-ranked Al Riyadi as it allowed them to take a leadership position. Al Riyadi smashed 9th ranked Hoops Club in Beirut 74-37. The game without a history. Al Riyadi led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. They dominated on the defensive end, holding Hoops Club to just 4 points in second quarter and to 13 points in first half. Al Riyadi dominated down low during the game scoring 46 of its points in the paint compared to Hoops Club's 22. Al Riyadi forced 26 Hoops Club turnovers and outrebounded them 45-32 including 22 on the offensive glass. It was a great evening for the former international forward Ali Haidar (201-90, college: Michigan Tech) who led his team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 10 points and 14 rebounds. The former international center Roy Samaha (205-84) helped adding 14 points and 9 rebounds. Four Al Riyadi players scored in double figures. Al Riyadi's coach Slobodan Subotic felt very confident that he used entire bench which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. At the losing side the former international power forward Hussein Tawbeh (198-82) responded with 2 points and 12 rebounds and guard Amir Eid (185-89) scored 12 points. As mentioned above they are at the top of the standings, which they share with Sagesse. Hoops Club at the other side dropped to the bottom place with six games lost. They share the position with Homenetm. B and Bejjeh. Hoops Club will play next round against Homenetm. B trying to get back on the winning streak. It will be a derby game for which supporters look forward to, where their team will face at home their local rival from Beirut - Homenetm. B. Al Riyadi will try to continue on its current victory against fourth ranked Al Moutahed in Tripoli.
