Regular Season Round 27: Minas - Basquete Cearense 79-81

Fourteenth-ranked Minas (7-16) gave a tough game to eighth ranked SKY/Basquete (13-12) in Belo Horizonte on Tuesday. The visitors from Aldeota managed to secure only two-point victory 81-79. However their fans expected much easier game. Minas was trailing by 7 points at halftime but managed to get 4-point lead after three quarters before a 27-21 charge of SKY/Basquete, which allowed them to win the game. They also forced 22 Minas turnovers and outrebounded them 36-24 including 25 on the defensive glass. The best player for the winners was American center DeVon Hardin (211-86) who had a double-double by scoring 21 points and 12 rebounds. The former international power forward William Drudi (206-81) chipped in 11 points and 8 rebounds. At the other side the best for losing team was the former international point guard Elinho Corazza (193-89, college: Miami Dade CC) who recorded 15 points and 7 assists and Dominican center Otis George (205-82, college: Louisville) added 14 points and 9 rebounds respectively. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Minas' coach Carlos Romano tried various players' combinations and tested in total eleven players in this game, but that didn't help. SKY/Basquete maintains eighth place with 13-12 record. Loser Minas keeps the fourteenth position with 16 games lost. SKY/Basquete will meet bottom-ranked Espirito Santo (#17) in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Minas will play against Mogi and hope to secure a win.
