Regular Season Round 35: Handlova - Rieker KN 84-79 OT

Handlova (14-17) survived in overtime against Rieker KN (17-14) by five points 84-79 on Wednesday night. The hosts took control from the first minutes by winning first half. But Rieker KN won third quarter 17-15. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening, at least not yet. The game turned upside-down in the last quarter, where Rieker KN used huge pressure winning it 23-20 getting a tie at the end of regular time. They lost eventually overtime period 7-12. Rieker KN was plagued by 27 personal fouls down the stretch. The best player for the winners was Montenegrin guard Milos Djurisic (194-88) who scored 21 points. Serbian forward Aleksandar Vuletic (202-86, college: Indian Hills CC) chipped in 9 points and 13 rebounds. Serbian guard Krsto Bjelica (192-88) produced 18 points and 9 assists and American forward Kenny Hall (206-90, college: Tennessee, agency: Three Eye Sports) added 14 points and 13 rebounds (on 7-of-9 shooting from the field) respectively for the guests. Four Rieker KN players scored in double figures. Rieker KN's coach Frantisek Ron rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Handlova maintains sixth place with 14-17 record. Rieker KN at the other side keeps the fifth position with 14 games lost. Handlova will face league's second-placed Prievidza on the road in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Rieker KN will play against Nova Ves and hope to win that game.
