Regular Season Round 19: Keflavik - Haukar 81-90

There was a small surprise when fifth ranked Haukar (12-8) beat on the road much higher ranked Keflavik (16-3) 90-81 on Thursday. The guests were tied at the half but managed to speed up in last two quarters eventually winning the game. Haukar outrebounded Keflavik 46-33 including a 19-8 advantage in offensive rebounds. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 23 assists. Great defensive blocking was one of the keys in this match when Haukar made 7 blocks. American forward Terrence Watson (200-87, college: Ball St.) fired a double-double by scoring 28 points, 18 rebounds and 5 blocks for the winners. Guard Emil Barja (192-91) chipped in a triple-double by scoring 12 points, 10 rebounds and 13 assists. Guard Gudmundur Jonsson (191-84) produced 19 points and 7 rebounds and American forward Michael Craion (195-89, college: ORU) added 17 points and 10 rebounds respectively for lost side. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Haukar have an impressive series of five victories in a row. They moved-up to fourth place. Keflavik at the other side keeps the second position with three games lost. Haukar will face Thor Thorl (#6) in Thorlakshofn in the next round. Keflavik will play on the road against Grindavik (#3) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
