There was a small surprise when fifth ranked Wollongong Hawks (11-13) edged second-ranked Adelaide 36ers (15-9) in Gwynneville 91-89 on Friday. Adelaide 36ers trailed by 12 points after 3 quarters before a 30-20 run in the last quarter cut the deficit to 89-91 at the end of the game. Guard Rhys Martin (184-86, college: Nova SE) orchestrated the victory by scoring 32 points, 6 rebounds and 4 assists. American guard Rotnei Clarke (183-89, college: Butler) contributed with 21 points and 4 assists for the winners. American point guard Gary Ervin (183-83, college: Arkansas) replied with 21 points, 7 rebounds and 4 assists and international power forward Daniel Johnson (212-88, college: Pepperdine) added 17 points and 12 rebounds in the effort for Adelaide 36ers. Four Wollongong Hawks and five Adelaide 36ers players scored in double figures. Adelaide 36ers' coach rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help.
