Second Stage Round 3: Etzella - Residence 102-62

The game between closely ranked teams ended with Etzella's (12-9) home victory over Residence (7-14) 102-62 on Friday. The game was mostly controlled by Etzella. Residence was better in second period 24-20. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. They dominated on the defensive end, holding Residence to just 7 points in first quarter. Etzella dominated down low during the game scoring 72 of its points in the paint compared to Residence's 26. They outrebounded Residence 45-28 including a 37-19 advantage in defensive rebounds. Etzella looked well-organized offensively handing out 21 assists comparing to just 5 passes made by Residence's players. It was a great evening for American forward Nathan Walkup (200-88, college: Texas A&M) who led his team to a victory scoring 24 points and 5 rebounds. The former international swingman Nelson Delgado (188-80) helped adding 12 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists. Walkup is a former Eurobasket Summer League player, which is considered top international summer league in the market. Four Etzella players scored in double figures. Etzella's coach Amadeo Dias felt very confident that he used entire bench and allowed the starting five to get some rest. The best for the losing side was American forward Chris Kaba (203-88, college: N.Colorado) with 22 points and 8 rebounds and point guard Kevin Moura (182-94) scored 16 points. Etzella will face Basket Esch on the road in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Residence will play against Racing and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
