Regular Season Round 19: Thor Thorl - KR 78-99
Date: February 28, 2014
No shocking result in a game in Thorlakshofn where first ranked KR (18-1) smashed 6th ranked Thor Thorl (10-9) 99-78 on Friday. The game was mostly controlled by KR. Thor Thorl was better in third quarter 25-21. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 23 assists. The former international guard Pavel Ermolinskij (202-87) fired a triple-double by scoring 14 points, 11 rebounds and 10 assists for the winners. American forward Demond Watt (200-89, college: Texas A&M-CC) chipped in 20 points, 8 rebounds and 4 blocks (on 9-of-11 shooting from the field). American swingman Mike Cook (193-84, college: Pittsburgh) produced 26 points and 9 rebounds and forward Tomas Tomasson (193-91, college: Newberry) added 18 points and 5 rebounds respectively for lost side. Five KR and four Thor Thorl players scored in double figures. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. KR have an impressive series of six victories in a row. They maintain first place with 18-1 record. Thor Thorl at the other side keeps the sixth position with nine games lost. KR will face Skallagrimur (#10) in Borgarnes in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Thor Thorl will play on the road against Haukar (#4) in Hafnarfjordur and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
