Regular Season Round 8: Moutahed - Al Riyadi 66-70

Date: February 28, 2014
No shocking result in a game in Tripoli where first ranked Al Riyadi (7-1) defeated 5th ranked Al Moutahed (5-3) 70-66 on Friday. The guests trailed by 9 points after first quarter, but they rallied back and won the game by 4 points. Strangely Al Moutahed outrebounded Al Riyadi 54-42 including 42 on the defensive glass. Great defensive blocking was one of the keys in this match when Al Riyadi made 8 blocks. The best player for the winners was Egyptian power forward Ahmad Ismail (205-76) who had a double-double by scoring 11 points and 10 rebounds. International swingman Jean Abdel Nour (198-83) chipped in 14 points and 7 rebounds. American center Hassan Whiteside (213-89, college: Marshall) produced a double-double by scoring 15 points, 18 rebounds and 4 blocks and Jamaican-American guard Corey Williams (191-77, college: Alabama St.) added 12 points, 8 rebounds and 7 assists respectively for the hosts. Four Al Moutahed players scored in double figures. Defending champion maintains first position with 7-1 record. Al Moutahed at the other side keeps the fifth place with three games lost. Al Riyadi will face Champville (#7) in Dik El Mehdi in the next round where they are favorite. Al Moutahed will play on the road against Homenetm. B in Beirut and hope to win that game.
