Not a big story in a game when 10th ranked UB Chartres (11-13) was defeated at home by sixth ranked La Rochelle (15-8) 66-58 on Saturday. The guests took control from the first minutes by winning the initial quarter 12-6. But UB Chartres won second period 14-12. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. La Rochelle dominated on the defensive end, holding UB Chartres to just 6 points in first quarter. Worth to mention a great performance of American forward Jarryd Cole (204-88, college: Iowa) who helped to win the game recording 23 points and 6 rebounds and point guard Samir Mekdad (188-86) who added 17 points and 9 rebounds during the contest. The best for the losing side was forward Guillaume Merie (198-83) with 9 points, 8 rebounds and 5 assists and guard Maxime Boire (182-83) scored 12 points and 5 rebounds. La Rochelle moved-up to fifth place. UB Chartres lost third consecutive game. They keep the tenth position with 13 games lost. La Rochelle will face higher ranked Charleville-Mezieres (#3) at home in the next round and it may be quite challenging game. UB Chartres will play against Sorgues BC (#4) and hope to win that game.
