2Liga top team - Legia (18-2) managed to deliver another win on Saturday. This time they beat fifth ranked AZS UMK Torun (11-9) in Warszawa 82-67. It ended at the same time the three-game winning streak of AZS UMK Torun. The game was mostly controlled by Legia. AZS UMK Torun was better in second period 18-17. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Legia forced 19 AZS UMK Torun turnovers. Strangely AZS UMK Torun outrebounded Legia 45-32 including 32 on the defensive glass. Arkadiusz Kobus (195-86, agency: Promotex) stepped up and scored 18 points and 6 rebounds for the winners and point guard Andrzej Paszkiewicz (180-79) chipped in 8 points, 6 assists and 4 steals. The best for the losing side was forward Marek Kondraciuk (198-85) with 16 points and 6 rebounds and forward Slawomir Murowicki (194-83) scored 9 points and 8 rebounds. Four AZS UMK Torun players scored in double figures. Both coaches tested many bench players and allowed the starting five to get some rest. The victory was the third consecutive win for Legia. They maintain first place in Group A with 18-2 record. Newly promoted AZS UMK Torun keeps the fifth position with nine games lost. Legia will face SMS PZKosz (#8) in Wladyslawowo in the next round and are hoping to win another game. AZS UMK Torun will play at home against Polonia W-wa and hope to win that game.
