Very expected game when 9th ranked Angers (6-13) lost at home to fifth ranked Lyon (13-6) 95-77. The game without a history. Lyon led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. Their players were unselfish on offense dishing 25 assists. It was a great evening for Croatian center Emilija Podrug (190-79) who led her team to a victory scoring 23 points and 4 assists (on 9-of-11 shooting from the field). point guard Bintou Dieme (164-84) helped adding 16 points and 8 assists. At the losing side Czech forward Romana Hejdova (184-88) responded with 18 points, 7 rebounds, 4 assists and 6 steals and Croatian center Iva Sliskovic (190-84, college: S.Carolina) scored 18 points and 6 rebounds. Five Lyon and four Angers players scored in double figures. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Lyon maintains fifth place with 13-6 record. Newly promoted Angers dropped to the tenth position with 13 games lost. They share it with Toulouse. Lyon will play against higher ranked Villeneuve D'Ascq (#3) at home in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Angers will play against Tarbes (#9) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
