There was a small surprise in Barcelona where twelfth ranked Barca CBS (3-13) outscored 10th ranked Tenerife (5-11) 74-51 on Saturday. The game without a history. Barca CBS led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. They dominated on the defensive end, holding Tenerife to just 7 points in first quarter. Barca CBS forced 19 Tenerife turnovers. Tenerife was plagued by 25 personal fouls down the stretch. Worth to mention a great performance of center Meritxell Bellido (183-85) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 20 points and 14 rebounds and swingman Marta Montoliu (182-94) who added 15 points, 11 assists and 4 steals during the contest. Five Barca CBS players scored in double figures. At the losing side power forward Laura Bejarano (182-82) responded with a double-double by scoring 19 points and 13 rebounds and the former international center Eva Montesdeoca (194-81) scored 7 points and 8 rebounds. Newly promoted Barca CBS maintains twelfth position in Group B with 3-13 record. Tenerife lost third consecutive game. They dropped to the eighth place with 11 games lost. Barca CBS will face higher ranked Leganes (#8) on the road in the next round and it may be quite challenging game.
