Regular Season Round 41: Aomori Watts - Akita NH 75-68

The most surprising game was another loss of top-ranked Akita Happinets (29-8) on the court of sixth ranked Aomori Watts on Saturday night. Visitors were defeated by Aomori Watts 75-68. The hosts trailed by 16 points at the halftime before their 50-27 charge in the second half, which allowed them to win the game. Aomori Watts forced 20 Akita Happinets turnovers and outrebounded them 45-34 including a 18-7 advantage in offensive rebounds. Guyanese-American forward Gordon Klaiber (206-83, college: Fair Dickinson) orchestrated the victory with a double-double by scoring 19 points and 15 rebounds. Nigerian forward Abdullahi Kuso (206-84, college: Tallahassee CC) contributed with a double-double by scoring 16 points and 12 rebounds for the winners. American forward Ruben Boykin (201-85, college: N.Arizona) answered with a double-double by scoring 13 points, 11 rebounds and 5 assists and the former international point guard Yuki Togashi (170-93) added 16 points and 8 assists in the effort for Akita Happinets. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Aomori Watts maintains sixth place with 17-18 record, which they share with Yokohama BC. Akita Happinets lost fourth consecutive game. They still keep top position with eight games lost. Aomori Watts is again looking forward to face league's leader Akita Happinets at home in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Akita Happinets will have a break next round.
