Rather predictable result when sixth ranked Okapi Aalstar (12-10) defeated at home 8th ranked VOO Verviers-Pepinster (6-16) 78-69 on Saturday. The hosts took control from the first minutes by winning the initial quarter 25-19. But VOO Verviers-Pepinster won second period 20-16. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. American Derek Raivio (190-84, college: Gonzaga) scored 17 points, 7 rebounds, 7 assists and 4 steals to lead the charge for the winners and the other American import forward Da'Sean Butler (201-88, college: W.Virginia, agency: KMG Sports Management) chipped in 23 points during the contest. Four Okapi Aalstar players scored in double figures. At the losing side the former international guard Alexandre Libert (194-90) responded with 15 points, 5 rebounds and 5 assists and Nigerian center Akinlolu Akingbala (208-83, college: Clemson) scored 6 points and 11 rebounds. VOO Verviers-Pepinster's coach rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Okapi Aalstar moved-up to fifth place. VOO Verviers-Pepinster lost third consecutive game. They keep the eighth position with 16 games lost. Okapi Aalstar will face Antwerp Giants (#6) on the road in the next round. VOO Verviers-Pepinster will play against Leuven Bears and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
