Regular Season Round 32: St Quentin - Le Portel 94-96

A very close game took place in Saint-Quentin between Le Portel and Saint-Quentin. Sixth ranked Le Portel (18-14) got a very close victory on the road over 9th ranked Saint-Quentin (16-16). Le Portel managed to escape with a 2-point win 96-94 on Saturday evening. The guests took control from the first minutes by winning the initial quarter 27-22. But Saint-Quentin won second period 23-21. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Le Portel shot 62.5 percent from the field and made 17-of-22 free shots (77.3 percent) during the game. It was a great shooting night for Le Portel especially from behind the arc, where they had solid 60.0 percentage. The winners were led by the former international Gary Chathuant (193-83) who scored that evening 22 points and American Darnell Wilson (198-85, college: Canisius, agency: Court Side) supported him with 19 points and 6 rebounds. Even 20 points and 5 rebounds by power forward Julien Lesieu (201-83) did not help to save the game for Saint-Quentin. American swingman Rasheed Wright (196-80, college: ODU) added 17 points for the hosts. Five Le Portel and four Saint-Quentin players scored in double figures. Both coaches tested many bench players in such tough game. Le Portel maintains sixth position with 18-14 record. Loser Saint-Quentin dropped to the tenth place with 16 games lost. They share the position with Denain. Le Portel will meet at home Fos Ouest (#7) in the next round. Saint-Quentin's supporters look forward to an exciting derby game next round, where their team will face at home their local rival from Saint-Quentin Saint-Quentin.
