A very close game took place in Madrid between ASEFA Estudiantes and Leganes. Seventh ranked ASEFA Estudiantes (7-9) got a very close home victory over 8th ranked Leganes (5-11). ASEFA Estudiantes managed to escape with a 1-point win 57-56 on Saturday evening. The hosts took control from the first minutes by winning first half. But Leganes won fourth quarter 19-11. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Center Elena Diaz (188-92) fired 18 points and 5 rebounds for the winners. Center Mariana Gonzalez (187-88) chipped in 12 points and 8 rebounds. Center Laura San Bartolome (187-79) produced 15 points and 5 rebounds and guard Marta Perez (172-89) added 14 points respectively for lost side. ASEFA Estudiantes moved-up to sixth place in Group B. Loser Leganes keeps the eighth position with 11 games lost. They share it with Tenerife and Dist.Olimpico. ASEFA Estudiantes will meet higher ranked Segle XXI (#5) in the next round and it may be quite challenging game. Leganes will play against Barca CBS and hope to secure a win.
