Regular Season Round 18: Reims - Roche 68-63

Very important is a road loss of second ranked Roche (13-4) against eleventh ranked Reims (7-10) on Saturday night. Visiting Roche was defeated by Reims in a tough game in Reims 63-68. It ended at the same time the three-game winning streak of Roche. The hosts took control from the first minutes by winning the initial quarter 20-12. But Roche won second period 14-8. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Reims made 27-of-30 charity shots (90.0 percent) during the game, while Roche only scored eight points from the stripe. 26 personal fouls committed by Roche helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. The best player for the winners was point guard Pauline Lithard (168-94) who scored 16 points and 5 assists (went 10 for 10 at the free throw line !!!). Finnish swingman Heta Korpivaara (186-84, college: Seton Hall, agency: Regeneracom Sports) chipped in 14 points and 5 rebounds. Four Reims players scored in double figures. At the other side the best for losing team was forward Sarra Ouerghi (182-85, agency: LBM Management) who recorded 17 points and 6 rebounds and Senegalese center Aminata Nar Diop (196-83, college: Georgetown) added 12 points and 8 rebounds respectively. Reims moved-up to ninth place, which they share with Pays d'Aix. Roche at the other side keeps the second position with four games lost. Reims' next round opponent will be Pays d'Aix (#10) in Les Milles. Roche will play at home against Limoges (#4) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
