We cannot really consider it an upset in the game between close teams in Willebroek where 9th ranked Kangoeroes (4-18) were defeated by tenth ranked Basic-Fit Brussels (4-18) 106-95 on Saturday. The guests trailed by 4 points after first quarter, but they stormed back to get the 9-point lead at the halftime and eventually won the game 106-95. Basic-Fit Brussels made 28-of-31 free shots (90.3 percent) during the game, while Kangoeroes only scored twelve points from the stripe. Basic-Fit Brussels shot the lights out from three sinking 14 long-distance shots on high 51.9 percentage. Kangoeroes were plagued by 26 personal fouls down the stretch. The former international guard Domien Loubry (186-85) scored 28 points and 4 assists (made all of his fourteen free throws !!!) to lead the charge for the winners and Canadian swingman Stephen Ross (201-80, college: Santa Clara, agency: Court Side) chipped in 24 points during the contest. Both teams had five players each who scored in double figures. Kangoeroes' coach Aleksander Peldic rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Basic-Fit Brussels moved-up to ninth place, which they share with defeated Kangoeroes. Basic-Fit Brussels will face higher ranked Liege Basket (#4) in Liege in the next round and they do not belong to the favorites in that game. Kangoeroes will play on the road against Belfius Mons-Hainaut (#3) in Quaregnon and hope to win that game.
