Regular Season Round 24: HoNsU - PeKa 78-89

An interesting game for Peli-Karhut (18-3) which played road game in Jyvaskyla against 4th ranked HoNsU (11-10). Second ranked Peli-Karhut managed to get a 11-point victory 89-78. It ended at the same time the three-game winning streak of HoNsU. HoNsU was trailing by 3 points at halftime but managed to get 4-point lead after three quarters before a 32-17 charge of Peli-Karhut, which allowed them to win the game. Peli-Karhut outrebounded HoNsU 47-33 including 35 on the defensive glass. It was a good game for American guard Krystal Vaughn (185-86, college: VCU, agency: LBM Management) who led her team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 27 points and 11 rebounds. The former international center Taru Tuukkanen (192-77, college: Xavier, agency: Regeneracom Sports) contributed with a double-double by scoring 24 points and 13 rebounds for the winners. American guard Nikki Speed (173-90, college: Rutgers) replied with a double-double by scoring 14 points, 10 rebounds, 9 assists and 4 steals and forward Kaisa Lind (179-87) added 16 points and 6 rebounds in the effort for HoNsU. Four Peli-Karhut and five HoNsU players scored in double figures. Peli-Karhut have a solid four-game winning streak. They maintain second position with 18-3 record having five points less than leader Catz. HoNsU at the other side keeps the fourth place with ten games lost. Peli-Karhut are looking forward to face Aanekosken (#5) in Aanekoski in the next round. HoNsU will play on the road against Forssan Alku and is hoping to prove to their fans that the loss was just an accident.
