Regular Season Round 19: Lucca - La Spezia 65-54

Date: March 2, 2014
No shocking result in a game when third ranked Lucca (14-6) defeated at home 7th ranked La Spezia (8-10) 65-54. The game was mostly controlled by Lucca. La Spezia was better in fourth quarter 16-15. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Worth to mention a great performance of Dutch power forward Naomi Halman (191-86, college: Cal-Irvine) who helped to win the game recording 17 points and 6 rebounds. American forward Megan Mahoney (183-83, college: Kansas St., agency: LBM Management) contributed with 10 points and 7 rebounds for the winners. Guard Erika Striulli (171-90) answered with 14 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists and guard Elisa Buccianti (174-86) added 10 points in the effort for La Spezia. Lucca maintains third place with 14-6 record having three points less than leader Familia Schio. Newly promoted La Spezia keeps the seventh position with ten games lost. Lucca will play against bottom-ranked C.U.S. Chieti (#12) on the road in the next round and are hoping to win another game. La Spezia will play against Venezia (#6) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
